Stainless Steel Tips
Stainless steel is known for its ability to resist corrosion and rust. However, carbon, dirt and grime can build up resulting in dull-looking exhaust parts and tips. Stainless steel responds well to cleaning as certain precautions are taken.
NEVER USE CHROME POLISH ON YOUR STAINLESS STEEL TIPS
Chrome polish is acid-based and may remove your tips protective finish causing rust and corrosion.
NEVER USE SCOURING POWDERS OR STEEL WOOL
They will scratch stainless steel.
LIGHT CLEANING: Water and a Cloth
Routine cleaning can be accomplished by using warm water and a cloth. This is the best option for cleaning and maintaining stainless steel. Dry with a towel or cloth to prevent water spots. Heavily soiled tips may require the use of detergent to restore their appearance.
DEEP CLEANING: Soap, Water and a Cloth
For heavier cleaning, soap and warm water can do a great job without causing damage. Rinse the surface thoroughly to prevent staining and spotting. Towel dry to prevent water spots.
REMOVE: Fingerprints
Use glass cleaner to remove fingerprints. Rinse thoroughly and towel dry.
SCRATCHES: Stainless Steel Cleaner
A stainless steel cleaner can be used to remove minor staining and scratching. Cleaners and polishes can help minimize scratching, remove stains and polish stainless steel. Read and follow the directions for your stainless steel cleaner. Test in an inconspicuous spot. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and towel dry.
